Tateline was the worst chat program ever. Well, not really, but text scrolling was a huge issue in the earliest versions, and development ceased soon after a proof of concept was done.

Two things contributed to the abandonment of this project:
  * The Classic MacOS "Toolbox" GUI library was complete junk
  * FutureBASIC wasn't mature enough to write a chat client in. (The networking library was experimental at best.) 

However, that being said, it did sport one unique feature- it was the only client for its protocol that ran on 68K macs without [[wp>OpenTransport]].
